During the early 1950s, three major cooperative complexes were constructed. The Roosevelt Terrace cooperative apartments occupied a full block in the center of Jackson Heights. While the Northridge and Southridge cooperative apartments were constructed in the northeastern corner of the neighborhood and covered six full blocks (Karatzas 1990).
