The winter peak declined since 2003 until Tuesday, January 7, 2014, when a new peak was reached due to unusually cold weather. The January 2014 peak was 1,000 MW more than the winter peak in 2013. Winter peak is usually 80-90 percent of the summer peak for Wisconsin utilities.
