An applicant for a full acupuncture license must have received a minimum of 30 hours of herbal medicine training from a COA approved school or COA program in order to be licensed. Initial license applicants after January 1, 2009 may obtain Committee approval to employ herbal therapy including patent or raw herbs, by submitting evidence of the following:

It was the first school in Texas approved by the Texas State Board of Acupuncture Examiners to provide instruction in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and became a candidate for accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 1994, and was first accredited in 1996.
