Why did Jesus die the way that he died, suffering the dark reproach of the cross? How could someone so alive end up dead? Where was the body they had seen buried?

Luke notes that Joseph was the assumed father, Matthew adds Mary’s name, and the two lists differ as to Joseph’s father. Matthew begins with Abraham because he is interested in showing Jesus’ Jewish heritage. Luke goes all the way to creation, to place Jesus is a more universal context as one belonging to all people.
