The Air Force announced that, effective 1 October 1987, the 54th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron of MAC’s 23rd Air Force at Andersen AFB, Guam, would be inactivated (its six WC-130E/H would be retired) and the Air Force Reserve’s 815th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron at Keesler AFB would be converted to a tactical airlift squadron.
