The heart does not actually provide enough pressure to push blood through veins. Skeletal muscles are responsible for helping the blood through the veins. As the skeletal muscles contract, they squeeze the veins and this helps push the blood through them. The flow of blood from the heart and to all parts of the body is called systemic circulation.

Heart Structure: Simple Plan of Circulation in mammals. Heart is a double pump; it pumps blood in 2 circuits simultaneously. The right side pumps blood to the lungs and the left side pumps blood to the rest of the body. Double circulation: blood will pass through heart twice in one complete circuit of the body.

Blood enters the right atrium via the superior and inferior vena cavae. It then passes the right atrioventricular valve and into the right ventricle. It is pumped from the right ventricle through the pulmonary valve to the lungs. Blood returns from the lungs to the left atrium, and passes through the left atrioventricular valve to the left ...

heart. Venules drain the blood from capillaries and then . join. to form a vein. Walls are thinner than arterial walls. Veins have . valves. Valves. allow blood to flow only toward the heart when the are open and prevent the backward flow of blood when they are closed. At any one time the veins contain about 75% of the body's blood.

Circulation through the heart: In mammals, blood arrives from two major veins (superior and inferior vena cava) to the right side of the heart, the right atrium. The superior vena cava collects the blood from the head, neck, upper limbs, and chest. The inferior vena cava collects the blood from body parts that are below the heart.
