The citation forms used in the Bluebook provide the information necessary to lead the reader directly to the specific items cited. Citing to a specific section of an act or statute rather than to the act or statute as a whole assists the reader in locating the information cited. 140.2 Statutes.

When citing a case in the text, you have to italicize (if you cannot italicize, you can underline) the full name of the case. The first time you cite it you must use the full name. After that, you can use an identifying name (e.g., Lemon).
