ANA-Negative Lupus Symptoms and Tests
Systemic lupus erythematosus is usually diagnosed following identification of circulating autoantibodies commonly including anti-nuclear (ANA), double-stranded DNA and anti-Smith antibodies. This patient had an ANA titre of 1/160 (common in the general population) and was negative for these other antibodies.
