DOM Tubing Specs - Detroit Nipple Works
The 54mm cases are drawn-over-mandrel (DOM) tubing, which provides tighter specs than pipe tubing and less machining to bring the raw material into final shape. With raw material at the needed dimensions, the only machining that really needs to be done is to cut the grooves for the retaining rings and chamfer the ends of the case.
