What Are Glands? The Anatomy and Function
The parathyroid glands are small oval structures closely associated with the thyroid gland. Their position, number and location vary. Usually, there are four glands embedded on the posterior side of the thyroid gland as superior and inferior pairs. The embryological origins of these pairs differ.
