The authors go on to recommend that the IBC height and area limitations be scuttled and replaced with limits based on the 1988 BCMC report or, alternatively “the BCMC report provision limiting the aggregate floor area of a building to three times that of a one-story building should be included in the IBC.”1 The 2000 IBC has just such a limit.
