Soon after independence in 1990, all schools in Namibia were desegregated in line with the Namibian Constitution and the Education Act, Act No. 16 of 2001. The segregation of schools on the bases of race is prohibited. As such all Government and private schools are now open to all persons regardless of race, colour, religion or ethnic background.
