The APT service provides a reduced resolution data stream from the AVHRR instrument. Any two of the AVHRR channels can be chosen by ground command for processing and ultimate output to the APT transmitter. A visible channel is used to provide visible APT imagery during daylight, and one IR channel is used constantly (day and night).
