The central dogma of molecular biology. According to the central dogma, DNA is transcribed into mRNA in the nucleus. The mRNA is processed and transported into the cytoplasm where it is translated by ribosomes into protein. DNA is copied into translatable RNA by transcription and RNA processing.

Apr 23, 2015 · Central dogma means ‘major theme’ or ‘underlying idea.’ Scientists use this term to describe gene expression, because gene expression is the underlying theme behind all biological activities. Without this process, life as we know it cannot exist, and so it is the ‘fundamental belief’ around which the rest of life revolves.

DNA undergoes a series of steps in order to be coded into a specific protein. This is known as the central dogma, which says that DNA codes for the production of mRNA, which is processed before leaving the nucleus to be translated into a specific protein by a ribosome.
