When I looked, the research clearly pointed in this direction. In a study by Ronnie Desai that looked suicide rates in the year after discharge from 1994 to '98; they found that the suicide rate was 445 per a 100,000 person-years among Veterans discharged with schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, PTSD and bipolar disorder.
