QuikClot has not been used as much due to its exothermic nature and the difficulty of debriding the powder from a wound; a new Advanced Clotting Sponge (ACS) form is now available, which can easily be removed from the wound. Another hemorrhage control agent, Celox, is currently undergoing testing but is not currently being used by the military.
