The only hemostatic agent approved by the CoTCCC is QuikClot Combat Gauze (see figure 7). A hemostatic agent causes the wound to develop a clot that stops the flow of blood and will remain within the wound until removed by medical personnel. It is applied to wounds with moderate to severe bleeding (venous or arterial).
