The list MODG gives us for reading aloud in 1st grade is intended to double as a read alone list in 3rd. I find that many of these books are too hard for my kids, but if yours can read them, here’s how long they should take. A third grader, reading on his own personal level, will go about 150 words a minute, like an adult reading aloud.
