Utm zones map
Appendix “G” - Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM)
Starting from the international date line at longitude 180°, UTM zones are numbered 1 through 60 going east, with each zone 6° longitude wide and between latitudes 80°S and 84°N. Zone 1 extends from 180°W to 174°W. The Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District (MDAQMD) is located at UTM Zone 11 between 120°W and 114°W.

The map below shows: State plane zones. UTM zones. Standard meridians. Standard parallels. A “datum transformation” is always required in which of the following situations? When converting from vector to raster data. When changing from one projected coordinate system to another.

In the UTM coordinate system the earth between latitudes 84(N and 80(S is divided into 60 zones each 6( wide in longitude. Zones are numbered from 1 to 60 proceeding east from the 180th meridian from Greenwich (Snyder 1982). According to this definitions Aegean Sea takes place in the zones with number 34 and 35.

The Map was projected using the Israel Trans-Mercator Grid Projection, which is needed because Israel sits on the line between tow UTM zones and therefore UTM zones are not an effective projection to use when mapping Israel.

UTM coordinates are based on a family of 120 Transverse Mercator map projections (two for each UTM zone, with one for each N/S hemisphere). The earth is divided into 60 zones, each 6° wide in longitude (with the exception of a few non-standard-width zones for …

Figure 1 shows the UTM zones that cover the conterminous United States. In the TerraServer, these zones are called scenes. Within a UTM zone an (x,y) pair represents the distance in meters of the point from the origin. UTM maps can be joined at their edges only if they are in the same UTM zone with one central meridian.

Universal Transverse Mercator, which is based on the Mercator map projection. Beginning at 180 degrees longitude, there are 60 UTM zones increasing in 6 degree increments. Any UTM zone is divided into north and south zones. The state of Michigan has two UTM zones, 16 N and 17 N. On topographic maps, UTM grid marks are indicated with blue tic marks.

For example, data from two different UTM zones cannot easily be combined together into a single map. Should an application want to build an image containing data from two zones, the application must be prepared to re-project the data of one or both of the UTM zones to build a …
