      These were donated by Sir Ralph George Elphinstone Mortimer (1869-1955) who was a leading batsman for the club and had a distinguished local career (reference in Wikipedia). He pledged £250 towards the purchase of the cricket ground in 1897. He lost a brother in WW1 (qv below) and his only son in WW2. He died at Milbourne Hall nr Ponteland.
