Both the proxy for English Language Arts and the additional form of the Mathematics test may only be used for 3 consecutive years. End of Course Tests All students in end of course tests will do the following. All students will take the SOL assessment for any course with an end-of-course test. Scores for SOA, for state accreditation will not be reported for students who have been here for less than 11 semesters. Grading Students may receive a grade of n for no more than one semester. Teachers should implement appropriate accommodations and teaching strategies to provide the support necessary for students to be evaluated. Teachers should give students grades of A, B, C, D and F as soon possible. ELP Assessment - LEP students will continue to take the test of English Language Proficiency at the end of the year. Beginning in spring 2004, students will take the ELDA English language development assessment to measure their English proficiency. Scores on the ELDA will be compared to those from the previous year. Ten percent of the LEP student population in Henrico County must move out of ESL and twenty percent must move from one proficiency level to the next. ESL Proficiency Levels Please refer to the ESL Classification document. Monitor Status Students who exit ESL will be formally monitored for two consecutive years. This includes students whose parents request that they be removed from the ESL program. Monitored students will take the ELP assessment in reading and writing each year that they are monitored.
