Response #1 УPlastic Surgery Below the BeltФ ааааааааааа I think getting plastic surgery is vain and for people who are insecure. Plastic surgery is not the answer to solve insecurity issues. After the surgery you are still insecure and you have parts of you that are not really part of you. Plastic surgery is fine if you want to restore a body part that is distorted and if it will solve a health issue. Increasing the size of your chest or, in the case of the article, have private parts that are ideal by society standards is just a sign of how vain people are and the lengths they go to in order to fit in. а 2. Response #2 УEqual Rights for Ugly FoodsФ ааааааааааа What happens to all the rejected food? It is beyond belief that food goes to waste because it does not look like the standard. There are many people starving around the world and I can almost be sure that the rejected food does not go to feed the hungry. Food is food and if an odd looking carrot tastes the same as a normal carrot then it is a waste to throw out these foods.аааа а 3. Response #3 УWhy Obama Wants Hillary for His 'Team of Rivals'Ф ааааааааааа аI think Hillary is capable of being Secretary of State. It is wise for Obama to have people in his cabinet with opposing views because he will be completely aware of all the options available. Franklin Delano Roosevelt used the same mentality to choose the members of his cabinet and he is considered to be one of the greatest presidents in American history. Some people are skeptical but I see this as a change from the presidency of the past eight years. а 4. Response #4 УDrive-By Flu ShotsФ ааааааааааа Drive-by flu shots seem convenient. I do not really trust this idea because it seems like anything can go wrong. What if the needles are not sterilized? In a doctors office it is easier to trust that everything will go as planned. The real question is how lazy can people get. а 5. Response #5 УObama and the Myth of the Black MessiahФ ааааааааааа Obama is a great representation that your race cannot stop anyone from achieving anything. Yes, racism exists in the United States but because of affirmative action racism should not be a constant threat to success. I know that ObamaТs presidency is not just focused on helping the black community but to help the country. Hopefully Obama will stop the stereotype of black people feeling that intelligence is not part of being Уblack.Ф Optimistically, ObamaТs election will encourage more people to be successful and thus the belief that only white people can succeed will be disproved. Newspaper Articles 6. Response #1 УTowering LED Sign Will Light Times SquareФ Part of me thinks a giant LED sign is a waste of money. The other part of me thinks it is amazing how people can create things so complex. On one hand the money could be used for more important things like schools. On the other hand, it is signs like this one that add splendor to New York City. а 7. Response #2 УTool Bag Is Lost During SpacewalkФ Does this mean that outer space is becoming polluted with tools? I know the space is infinite so lost tools is not an issue but it is still like polluting even though losing tools is not intentional. Once something is let loose in space it doesnТt come back. I guess the astronauts will never see their tools again. Hopefully they have spares. а 8. Response #3 УTeenagersТ Internet Socializing Not a Bad ThingФ I think everything in moderation is never a bad thing. Internet socializing is a great way to communicate but a person should never make this their purpose of living. Many people would say things like Myspace can be addicting but people can have self-control. I understand why parents may become concerned if a child is communicating through the Internet but rules and regulations can promote safety when using the Internet.а а 9. Response #4 УTV Ads Contribute to Childhood Obesity, Economists SayФ ааааааааа I donТt think television advertisements are to be fully blamed for the increase in obesity in children within the United States. People tend to have a bad habit of blaming others than themselves. Assuming this is true, are the children the ones to blame? No, although children may know the difference between healthy and unhealthy, they donТt always have a complete grasp on the effect food has on a body. This means parents are to blame. Parents are the ones buying the junk food and parents are the ones who educate their children on healthy eating through example. Even though studies are relating advertisements to obesity, this is just an excuse people need to put the blame on something. а 10. Response #5 аУFrance Dominates EuropeТs Digital LibraryФ ааааааааааа It is a great idea to put many different sources from Europe into one site. The only problem that I find with this is that most of it deals with France or the information is in French. Europe is not only France so it would make a lot of sense if the information on the site is in various languages and the information doesnТt only relate to France. Hopefully with time information from all over Europe will be added to the site. The addition of this information will make the site truly deserving of the name Europeana. аа ааааааааааа Works Cited Castle. Stephen .
