Students will be tested on a lesson each Friday and must bring their Vocabu-Lit workbooks to class on Fridays to begin the next lesson. These lessons incorporate classic literature to introduce students to ten new words, which they use to complete sentences, make synonym/antonym comparisons, and formulate analogies. Notebook Tests Students are expected to complete all homework and classroom assignments. These assignments are to be kept in a notebook, which will be used for a notebook test twice per quarter. The teacher will provide prior notice of the test, as well as a list of all items which should be in the notebook. It is the student’s responsibility to bring this notebook to class on the test day. Lost or misplaced notebooks cannot be graded at a later date. Writing Writing skills will be incorporated into each literature unit and covered in depth in separate units in order to prepare students for the Alabama Direct Assessment of Writing, which is administered in February, and to prepare students for the writing that will later be required of them in college. Novels All students will take the STAR test at the beginning of the year to determine their current reading levels. We will use these results to determine the difficulty of the novels each student may read. As their reading level improves throughout the year, students will begin reading higher levels of books. We will also administer the STAR periodically throughout the year and at the end of the year to determine the amount of progress each student made in improving his or her reading level. We will use the Literacy Skills computerized testing program for testing each student on the novel he or she reads. One novel will be read and tested on each month. Daily Oral Language Although Honors students have shown their proficiency with language skills prior to entering the Honors program, it is important to continue to review and polish those skills daily. Therefore, Daily Oral Language mini lessons will be presented each day to cover all grammar skills as listed in the Alabama Course of Study. This is also preparation for the language portion of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam which will be administered to 10th graders in March. *+,.6<=?GHIKPQRfkm‘ВДЛШгезхэѓхѓсеЧеПГЅГšƒ{{sgs{ƒ{sgs[s{ƒ{h&]h&]6CJaJh&]h&]CJH*aJh&]CJaJhq28CJaJhq28hq28CJH*aJhq28hq28CJaJh‰эhq28CJaJh‰эh‰э>*CJH*aJh‰эh‰э>*CJaJh‰эCJaJhq28hq28>*CJH*aJhq28hq28>*CJaJhq28hЋ{нhq285CJH*aJhЋ{нhq285CJaJ!*+HŽд* h Щ O Џ 1 t Э x С _ Љ ‘їїїющщщщщщщщщщщщщщщщщщщщщщщgdq28„а`„аgdq28$a$gdq28ўэђѓєјљћ) * + - > D K O Q R g i k “ — ™ Ш Ъ Ь ѓ ї љ = @ B N P R Œ ’ Ў А В ь № ђ ѓъѓсйЭйТКЎКІКйЭйІКЎКІšІКЎКІšІ‘ЎКІšІКЎКІšІКЎКІšІК…hq28hq28>*CJaJhq28CJH*aJh‰эh‰эCJH*aJh‰эCJaJhq28hq28CJH*aJhq28CJaJh&]hq28CJaJh&]h&]CJH*aJh&]CJaJh&]6CJaJh Mї6CJaJhq28hq286CJaJ1 % & ( 0 1 2 4 9 : ; [ _ a s t u w Ќ А В Ь Ю а ѕ љ ћ !
