Jerry worked at PWA in Crew Scheduling and in HercOps February 13, 2009 - LAMB, Terance (Terry) Malcolm Terry was born in Brandon, Manitoba to Charles and Isabel Lamb and grew upon the family farm south of Bradwardine, Manitoba. He started his education in Bradwardine then, with rural school consolidation, completed High School at Rivers, MB. He is remembered by the neighbours for his many excursions around the family farm in a 1929 Chevrolet with his dog Mickey by his side. Terry was introduced to the world of aviation when, at 12 years old, he joining #320 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets at Rivers. Terry excelled in the Cadet programs, attended summer camp at St. Jean, Quebec in 1959 then a flying scholarship (Private Pilot License) at Gimli, Manitoba in the summer of 1964 where he received an award as the top course Cadet. After graduating from High School in 1965, Terry commenced work with Maple Leaf Aviation at Brandon. While with Maple Leaf, Terry obtained his Aircraft Maintenance License and Commercial Pilot's License. In 1967, seeking to build up his hours and see more of Canada, Terry loaded up his tent and camping gear and flew "Pinkie", a Luscombe 8A, from Brandon to Toronto Island Airport and back to attend Expo '67 in Montreal. Looking to expand his career opportunities, Terry obtained his Multi-Engine/IFR license with Perimeter Aviation in Winnipeg then moved to Alberta in 1972. After working in general aviation in Calgary, including flying cloud seeding flights out of the Red Deer Airport, Terry was hired by Pacific Western Airlines in November 1973 as a Second Officer on B727 Aircraft. From November, 1973 until his retirement, Terry transferred between Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver bases while being a part of several airline mergers. His career took him from the High Arctic to Western Africa (Angola), to Europe, Middle East and Asia, North America and the Caribbean on the L-382 (Hercules), B727, B737, DC-10 and A320 aircraft before retiring in April 2002 as an Vancouver based Air Canada Captain on the B767-300. One of Terry's prouder moments was having his mother and father meet him at the Brandon Airport in June, 1988 when he flew as Captain on the B737 Toronto-Brandon-Toronto route. A love of the outdoors was a major part of Terry's life - outdoors with his friends was where he was the happiest and at ease; hiking the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island, living, skiing, hiking and dirt bike riding at Whistler and post retirement, dividing his time between White Rock and Osoyoos in B.C.'s Okanagan Valley. After a courageous and stoic battle against cancer, Terry passed away peacefully on February 13th, 2010 in White Rock with his family by his side. He is survived by his mother Isabel, sister Noreen, brother Russ, sister-in-law Heather Stewart, nieces Shawna, Carla and Kadence, nephews Shane, Charles and Dario and his many cousins from both the Lamb and Prowse families. Before he left us, he asked that the following thought be kept in our minds: "Don't cry because I am gone, but smile for all the fun times we had together." If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 565 - 10th Avenue West, Vancouver, B.C., V5Z 1L3, as an expression of sympathy and remembrance of Terence. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 10th from 1300 to 1600 at Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club, 18150 - 8th Avenue, Surrey. Pictures and stories to share will be appreciated. HYPERLINK "http://www.pwareunion.com/web_images/passages/tombond.jpg" June 5, 2008 - Don Johnson, Finance I wish that I was writing with good news but sadly this will be the hardest update to write. My dad Donald Johnson passed away this morning at home just before 11am after a 7 year battle with colon cancer. Erik, Scotia and I were at his side to hold his hand. He did not suffer. The nurses say that he was aware of our presence and this was evident by the way he stopped (his trademark) snoring when Scotia squealed at him :) earlier in the morning. We are taking comfort in knowing that he put up a good fight and is now at peace. My family wishes to thank everyone again for their kind words and prayers during this difficult time. My dad was blessed to have had so many dear people in his life and he spoke highly of all of you. June 4, 2008 KOPYN, Theodorus On Monday, June 2, 2008 Ted Kopyn passed away at the age of 88 years. I was that which others did not want to be, I went where others feared to go, And did what others failed to do. I have seen the face of terror, Felt the stinging cold of fear, And enjoyed the sweet taste of a moment's love. But most of all, I have lived times others would say were lest forgotten. At least someday, I will be able to say that I was proud of what I wasa soldier. Dec 16, 2007 Ken Oftsie, Flight Operations: This is a belated posting.
