GarrickDIN2itMicrosoft Word 10.0@r@ z@Μ9 eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeᆳADEQUATE FACT-FINDING IS A KEY TO PROBLEM SOLVING The title seems to state something that is so obvious that it might be thought to be something that goes without saying. However, even intelligent people will make conclusions without adequate fact finding. Some of the conclusions are from prejudices or pre-conceived beliefs, some of which are usually not accurate. We all have belief/prejudice filters that get in the way of our perceiving and thinking clearly and cleanly. It is for that very reason that we must apply enough rigor in our thinking process to gather enough facts to have something to apply our brain and logic to. If we start without facts, then it is much less likely that our conclusion will be appropriate, though we could get lucky. (Living based on hope and luck is not a good strategy!) We recommend that you apply enough discipline to the process of decision-making to come up with appropriate solutions that benefit you and do not cost you. Lack of discipline, together with irrational thinking (which is a lack of discipline in itself), will lead only to a tougher life. See the formats for adequate decision making that are provided by some of the experts in the field. FORMCHECKBOX I hereby commit to avoiding wishful thinking and sloppy discipline and to using a complete and adequate process for decision making. AN EXAMPLE: For many hours, a couple had discussed their financial situation and the problems, and the threats that occurred. There was also a relationship problem that existed related to boundaries and clearly setting them and having them. Agreement was reached as to what to do to make the finances work and to honor the boundaries. The fact finding, discussing, and deciding processes took about six hours. Then the couple saw their financial advisor, who then proceeded to disagree, based on just hearing a statement or two. No, he said, you shouldnt have a note from one spouse to the other for separate property lent to the other because your marriage is eternal and your assets are each others. Then the whole system of maintaining separate checking accounts and contributing to one joint account for shared expenses was dismissed on the same basis, although it was derived to accomplish a means of having separate control and self-accountability rather than unclear control and relationship conflict. Next, when hearing they had agreed to sell the males truck because he was now driving a company truck, the advisor stepped in and said the male could keep the truck in case he loses his job (in which he is a vital component and where he has been for many years). However, this was agreed to be a source of some payments on credit cards, plus a reserve would be provided for the male to work on his hobby. Was the advisor wrong or unintelligent? No one can say for sure. He is probably intelligent, but made the mistakes of not gathering sufficient information plus offering opinions without adequate knowledge in relationship areas. The person simply used a generally unworkable process. If the advisor is prone to using unworkable processes and not to making complete, fact-based logical decisions, then that is a matter of poor discipline. Such poor discipline should be corrected, for it could mean that the advisor might not be the one that the couple use in the future. But, then, again, we cannot make a conclusion here, since we have not gathered adequate facts See forms that should be helpful, at HYPERLINK "http://www.thelifemanagementalliance.com" www.thelifemanagementalliance.com, Life Management, Decision-Making/Problem-Solving, HYPERLINK "http://www.thelifemanagementalliance.com/LifeMgmt/DecisionMaking/ProbSolvForms.doc" \t "_self" Problem Solving Forms . There is a bit of a lack of logic here, but no complete problem solving, data gathering approach was used at all. 12 7 Z _ ` a b c m n p q /01-f&']۾߶벮ߜۊɁhKh#O0Jjth#OU hhH0hk(]hwZojh!0JUh!h!3ghH0hH0>*jh#OUjh#OUjh#O0JUh#OhvhvhH06hH0hhnIhh>*0234 7 8 Z [ & _ ` a b c p q |}g &d P gdgd$a$gdYghXYZ$"&"$&&&&**,v.x.z.|.$a$gd->$gd%&&&&&*+,,,,^-`-l-n-p-r-----r.t.v.z.|.؃tc jh->$h->$CJUaJ*hI*CJaJmHnHu*jh->$CJUaJhI*0JmHnHu h->$0Jjh->$0JUh->$h->$0JCJaJh->$0JCJaJhI*h->$hv hhH0hEh->$h->$CJaJjh->$h->$CJUaJh->$CJaJmHnHu We recommend also that you require your advisors (from financial advisors to counselors) to engage in adequate fact gathering, as it applies in all fields., with a knowledgeable facilitator,in the earlier meeting itused as means of freeing up an idle asstDeCheck1 DyK "www.thelifemanagementalliance.comyK Thttp://www.thelifemanagementalliance.com/@@@ NormalCJ_HaJmH sH tH DA@D Default Paragraph FontRi@R Table Normal4 l4a (k@(No List>@> !
