This is extremely simple, but something extremely engaging for all ages. As students are becoming more familiar with words, along with the way those words are spelled, there is no better way for students to practice the spelling of numerous words. During this literacy piece, students will take a spoon and scoop out a small amount of letters. From the letters they scooped out, they will then take those letters and spell as many words as possible. Kindergarten ELAGSEKRF2: Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes). D. Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words. (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or/x/.) E. Add or substitute individual sounds (phonemes) in simple, one-syllable words to make new word. ELAGSEKRF4: Read common high-frequency words by sight. Orally produce single-syllable words by blending sounds (phonemes), including consonant blends.1@55Sight Word Cup Crash. & Sight Word Mini Book. This can be altered but specifically, I chose to do Kindergarten! For this, students are to use mini red solo cups, and to build sight words. The more sight words they build, the taller their tower gets. Once they have completed a set amount of sight words, they are able to then take a ball and knock over the cups! This really gets students engaged, and any time that they can play with a ball, is fun and exciting! Kindergarten ELAGSEKRF4: Read common high-frequency words by sight. (e.g., the, of, to, you, she, my, is, are, do, does) 6@1 1@28Graphic Organizers for Writing. These graphic organizers for writing serve as a productive and helpful visual for students in order to work towards more efficient and effective writing. These visuals help prompt students to think about appropriate information while staying on task and working towards their writing through various tools. 1st Grade ELAGSE1W6: With guidance and support from adults, use a variety of tools to produce and publish writing, including digital tools and collaboration with peers. ELAGSE1W1: Write opinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or the name of the book they are writing about, state an opinion, supply a reason for the opinion, and provide some sense of closure. 9@19Graphic Organizers for Reading.I absolutely love the reading organizers I chose! I find nothing more appealing than fun and engaging posters! These reading posters prompt students on ways to read appropriately, along with reminders of what to do when something is unfamiliar within a text. This serves as a useful visual not only for the students but for the teachers too, especially as we work towards creating independence for our students. Kindergarten ELAGSEKSL2: Confirm understanding of written texts read aloud or information presented orally or through media by asking and answering questions about key details and requesting clarification if something is not understood. 4@14Graphic Organizers for Questions. This graphic organizer serves as a useful visual for students to use while working towards more in depth writing.
