We praise God for His call in your life to serve Him through this association, and we trust you will receive many blessings as a result of your willingness to follow Him. The Importance of Membership As a ministry we are always thankful for new members. Jesus said in Matthew chapter 9, verse 38: Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. We pray on a regular basis for increased membership for our association, realizing there is a direct relationship between new members and the amount of Scripture funds received and copies of Gods Word distributed. New members allow us to reach more people with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is, as you know, the sole objective of The Gideons International. Truly the harvest is plenteous! There are a number of activities in which you can participate as a member of this association. We realize that every member cannot take part in every activity. However, God uses our combined activities to accomplish His divine purpose for this ministry. I would encourage each of you to participate, as the Lord leads, in the following areas: Prayer: Every member can, and should pray for the worldwide outreach of The Gideons daily! The Daily Prayer Calendar is provided to you for this purpose. Please use this valuable prayer guide to remember those in leadership positions, those who travel regularly, as well as other important needs. We have the blessing of seeing and hearing many wonderful testimonies of just how God specifically answers our prayers. As you join your heart in prayer with Gideons around the world, remember the words of James 5:16, The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Scripture Distribution: God uses people to do the doing of this ministry. Having a part in distributing the Word of God in the areas covered by The Gideons International is a tremendous blessing to each of us as members. I encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity to participate in this aspect of our ministry. Membership Dues: Although most of us only pay our membership dues once a year, it is a very important way of supporting the ongoing ministry of The Gideons International. Your participation is vital in meeting the administrative cost of the ministry. A notice will be sent to you each October. Payment should be made by December 31. Others pay a lifetime membership. The Meaning of the Emblem Another important way of participating in the Gideon ministry is by faithfully wearing your emblem. God has given many Gideons an opportunity to share their faith in Christ when another individual inquired about the emblem on their lapel. The Gideon emblem is simple in design, yet rich in its symbolism of the Christian faith. Each of its elements brings a spiritual challenge to the lives of those who choose to wear it. The Circle of Gold: The circle itself reminds us of God, without beginning or end. The color gold means belonging to God To be a Gideon, a man must, first and foremost, be born again, a child of the King. The Background: The background of the emblem is blue. The color blue reminds us again of our heavenly relationship. We are Gods children, protected and blessed by Him. The White Pitcher: The original use of the pitcher was to carry water, but Gideon used the pitcher for a different purpose, to carry the light. This represents a Christians willingness to lay aside personal plans and purposes in order to use his vessel to carry the Light of the World. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us, (II Corinthians 4:7). The color white symbolizes the righteousness of God and the purity of life seen in one who walks with God. The Red Flame: The flame represents the Word of God. Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, (Psalm 119:105). The color red reminds us of the blood of Jesus, shed for our redemption. Membership Card The membership card that you received in your membership packet should be carried with you at all times. This card is permanent and it identifies you as a member in good standing of the association. You may be asked to show this card when representing the Gideons at distributions and other functions. The card has your membership number printed on the front and the seven spiritual objectives of our association printed on the back. Personal Workers Testament One of the seven spiritual objectives of The Gideons International is to be men who witness. One of the most important responsibilities we have as Christians is to tell others about our wonderful Saviour. As Gideons, we have the privilege to purchase small New Testaments to share with others when God gives us witnessing opportunities. These Personal Workers Testaments are a great aid in sharing our faith. There are important helps in the front of the Testaments as well as the plan of salvation in the back. This first Testament is provided for you at no cost by the camp. However, in the future it will be your responsibility to purchase the Testaments yourself. Currently these Scriptures can be purchased for $1.35 each. I encourage you to purchase a supply and keep at least one with you at all times. We never know when God may bring us across the path of an individual who is in desperate need of that Scripture and the good news it contains! &'(0= Z O 6 D c LMdSr>?h>?QٶُٝٝٝٝٝٶٝٝـُٝٝــhT+hDCJOJQJ^Jh'hD5CJOJQJhDCJOJQJhT+hDCJOJQJRHb"hT+hD6CJOJQJ]^J!hT+hDB*CJOJQJphhT+hDCJOJQJhO8hF^5CJ OJQJhT5CJ OJQJ/'(0< = Z LM>? & FgdDgdD & FgdDgdD`gdDgdDgdDgdDE^LNO],䴦䴋|nf[hT+hDOJQJhDOJQJhDB*CJOJQJphhT+hD@CJOJQJ!hT+hDB*CJOJQJphhDCJOJQJh'hD5CJOJQJhT+hDCJOJQJ^JhT+hDCJOJQJRHa"hT+hD6CJOJQJ]^JhT+hDCJOJQJhT+hDCJOJQJRHc?NO, P^P`gdDgdDgdDgdD ^`gdDgdD & FgdD":pD/ =!"#$%666666666vvvvvvvvv666666>6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666662 0@P`p2( 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p 0@P`p8XV~ OJPJQJ_HmH nH sH tH H`H OTNormal CJOJQJ_HaJmH sH tH DA D Default Paragraph FontRiR Table Normal4 l4a (k ( No List O F^0side bar subs (side bars) d1$7$8$9DH$(;@B* CJOJPJQJ^JaJphnO F^0BODY first line (BODY) d,h1$7$8$9DH$%@B*CJOJPJQJ^JaJphO F^0BODY Numbered List (BODY)(d,1$7$8$9DH$^`0%@B*CJOJPJQJ^JaJph|O"| F^0 BODY (BODY)$d,h1$7$8$9DH$`h%@B*CJOJPJQJ^JaJphLO!2L F^0BODY bulleted (BODY) ^`PK!K[Content_Types].xmlj0Eжr(΢]yl#!MB;BQޏaLSWyҟ^@ Lz]__CdR{`L=r85v&mQ뉑8ICX=H"Z=&JCjwA`.Â?U~YkG/̷x3%o3t\&@w!H'"v0PK!֧6 _rels/.relsj0 }Q%v/C/}(h"O = C?hv=Ʌ%[xp{۵_Pѣ<1H0ORBdJE4b$q_6LR7`0̞O,En7Lib/SeеPK!kytheme/theme/themeManager.xml M @}w7c(EbˮCAǠҟ7՛K Y, e.|,H,lxɴIsQ}#Ր ֵ+!,^$j=GW)E+& 8PK!\theme/theme/theme1.xmlYOoE#F{o'NDuر i-q;N3' G$$DAč*iEP~wq4;{o?g^;N:$BR64Mvsi-@R4Œ mUb V*XX! cyg$w.Q "@oWL8*Bycjđ0蠦r,[LC9VbX*x_yuoBL͐u_.
