Revised August 4, 2005 Date, timeEvent or program infoCall today to volunteer Event is next Saturday August 13 8-11 AM 11 AM to 2 PM 2-5 PMVOLUNTEERS DESPERATELY NEEDED!!! What started out as a day of fun for Worthington community members and their dogs has grown into its own all-volunteer nonprofit corporation and what we believe is the largest free dog parade in the country! The Pooch Parade is an annual event designed so that dogs and their people can have fun. In addition, the Parade helps create awareness of the growing number of homeless pets, the groups who work to find homes for them, and the importance of ending pet overpopulation. The Pooch Parade is in need of volunteers to assist with the 6th Annual Pooch Parade. Each year thousands of people and dogs visit Worthington for a day of fun! Parade day activities start at 11 AM with individual dog contests. Visitors can visit Rescue and Vendor Row, the kids activity area and the wellness area for dogs! Visitors can also stop by the Rotary Dine With Your Dog BBQ and end the day with the blessing of the dogs and the Pooch Parade down High Street! There are three shifts where volunteers are needed: 811 AM /11 AM 2 PM / 25 PM. Volunteer opportunities include: Buddy for Rescue Group/Vendor, Special Events (Dog Contests, Kids Activities), Registration Area, Parade Line-up and Set-up/Tear Down. All volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt and refreshments during their volunteer shift. To learn more about the Pooch Parade, please visit the Pooch Parade website at HYPERLINK "http://www.poochparade.net/" www.poochparade.net. Please help raise awareness on pet overpopulation, and the number of homeless animals that are available for adoption. Please help these dogs find their forever homes! Call now to volunteer for: Aug. 18-20 Aug. 22-23 Teen volunteer opportunity in preparation for the 3rd annual Afterschool Counts! Off to a Good Start Conference. Need youth volunteers to help with moving and loading/unloading cartons of print materials for the conference from the basement of Action for Children to the conference location at Xenos church near Westerville. Each box is 20-30 lbs. and would be loaded onto a pickup truck and transported to theconference site, then unloaded. This would probably take a crew of five or six teens and adults about two to three hours to complete. It would most likely need to be done during the daytime on August 22nd or 23rd and I would be there along with at least one or two other committee members. Another task is to help collate print materials to be included in a Toolkit binder that will be given to each of the 250+ conference participants. There will be boxes of copies from a copystore, plus dividers, cd-roms in sleeves/jewel cases, and the binders themselves. This job would take place at the Communities In Schools office inClintonville and would probably take 2-4 hours per session, depending on the number of volunteers. This would take place about a week before the conference, August 18-20. We could probably provide pizza or at least snacks for the volunteers. Let me know if you think you might know of any teen volunteers who would be interested/willing to participate. Regan Manczak, Site Coordinator, Communities In Schools, cell: 402-4936. Moses Not My Will We need something positive that we can hold on to especially when a new challenge comes along everyday. The debut release of rising Christian Hip Hop prodigy B. Moses offers that positive product in Not My Will. This 10 Track EP is a diamond in the rough. Traditionally it has been difficult to find gems in Christian hip hop music. However, this diamond shines enough to be noticed from afar. B. Moses, a Columbus native, has been equipped with a powerful message and a gift to present this message by way of music. Humbled spiritually, you will find that even the title of this album speaks volumes of his service to God. Not My Will, But Thy Will Be Done, is traditionally how this sentence finishes, thus allowing the listener to know that he (B. Moses) is carrying out a divine order. Not My Will defines integrity. It maintains focus on the divine purpose. While sustaining its purpose, Not My Will retains a homogenous balance between music and ministry, which is slowly becoming a lost art. When listening to this album youll dance and enjoy the fruits of a spiritual message. B. Moses has a wonderful ability to draw you into his gift.
