Summary:

Psychiatrist will evaluate patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient. Prescribes medication when necessary.

Qualifications:

Education: Doctorate Degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D) in Psychiatrist

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Observe, record, and report patients’ condition, symptoms, reactions, and progress to RN.

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) and/or Healthcare Tech (HCT) provides services on a supplemental staffing basis at Client facilities. The CNA performs nursing procedures and patient care tasks as assigned by the facility under the direction of a nurse or physician. The BHT/HCT cares for the mentally impaired and/or emotionally disturbed patients. The BHT/HCT works under a team that may include psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and therapists.

Qualifications

Education: High School Graduate or equivalent

Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant course

Experience: One year, full-time experience in the clinical area or specialty he/she requests to work

Certification: Current CNA certification

Current AHA/BLS certification

Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Blue Card, if applicable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The CNA/BHT/HCT is expected to practice safe and ethical duties within his/her scope as defined by the State Regulatory Agency. The CNA/BHT/HCT should understand his/her own limitations, seeking advice and assistance when necessary. Functions may include, but are not limited to:

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Nurse Practitioner is expected to practice safe and ethical nursing care within the scope of his/her profession as defined by the State Nursing Practice Act, understanding his/her own limitations, seeking advice and assistance when necessary. The Nurse Practitioner’s functions include, but are not limited to:

• Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of physician.

• Record physical findings, and formulate plan and prognosis based on patient's condition.

• Discuss with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.

• Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to patient.

• Carry out therapeutic procedures such as cast application and removal, wound suturing and dressing changes; monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of each patient's progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.

• Submit healthcare plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by physician.

• Prescribe or recommend drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.

• May refer patients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.

• May be designated according to field of specialization as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

• Where state law permits, may engage in independent practice.

• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Practice of medical care within the scope of license.

• Practice of medical care in accordance with current standards of care.

• Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrative knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

• Communicate appropriately with the patient, regardless of their age.

• Current knowledge in caring for patients in different developmental stages.

• Have working knowledge of the theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing.

• Present a professional appearance and demeanor.

• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.

• Ability to follow directions/instructions from his/her supervisor.

• Full range of body motion and flexibility required on a daily basis.

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling, and reaching to prepare equipment, materials, or objects in order to provide patient care or maintain the patient environment.

• Ability to verify visual and audio alarms on machines.

• Consistently practice standard precautions, including hand washing and consistent use of personal protective equipment.

• Current knowledge of and ability in caring for patients in different developmental stages throughout the life span.

• Must have a command for the English language and have ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• Participate in continuing education and learning experiences to enhance and maintain current knowledge and skills for continued competence.

• Perform all duties using proper body mechanics, following Client’s “No Lift” policy, as appropriate.

• Ability to move/lift between 50-100 pounds, depending on assignment requirements.

• Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination.

• Ability to work in a stressful environment.

• Ability to handle and operate various types of medical equipment.

• Adhere to Client’s policy for handling, labeling, and disposal of bio-hazardous material.

• Ability to work under pressure and in stressful environments.

• Pay close attention to details (essential).

• Sensory requirements include speech for communication, vision, smell, touch, and hearing for accurate completion of assignment.

• Consistent attendance is required to assure Client’s needs and patients’ needs are met.

• Comply with Client’s policies, procedures, and practices.

• Comply with all policies and uphold the company’s standards of excellence while on assignment at Client facilities.

• While on assignment, Healthcare Professional is responsible and accountable to their assigned patients and to the Client facility. The Healthcare Professional must have the ability to follow directions/instructions from his/her supervisor.
