Distance Education: Learners are able to supplement Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language, and GED preparation with distance learning--an internet-based course that allows learners to access class material online.

Offers 4 free programs: English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), Family Literacy, and While You're Waiting Classes (usual wait is 2 months). Registration for classes requires adults to attend a two hour Student Orientation where they will be assessed and receive information about Literacy Advance and tools to help them succeed in the classroom. Classes depend on tutor availability and are offered throughout the Greater Houston area with sessions held during the day and most evenings Monday through Saturday. Classes are two-hours twice a week for 12 weeks.

Talk times provide listening and speaking practice. No registration is needed. Classes feature more intensive lessons over the course of a several months. Classes and talk times each meet one day a week for 1-2 hours. Both classes and talk times are free.
