|Program Description: |

|This presentation will provide an overview of childhood onset mental health conditions and an introductory review of current treatment approaches including both |

|FDA-approved and off-label use of pharmacotherapy. We will also review complementary and alternative medicines that may be used in this patient population. The |

|conditions that will be covered throughout this presentation include attention deficit hyperactive disorder, anxiety, depression, early onset schizophrenia, |

|bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, reactive attachment disorder, disinhibited social engagement disorder,|

|and disruptive mood dysregulation disorder. |

|Recognize the different complementary and alternative medicines appropriate for psychiatric use |

|Identify principles of pediatric pharmacotherapy for common mental health disorders |

|Discuss FDA approved psychotropic medications in pediatrics and how this applies to clinical practice |

This program is being offered for 2.0 continuing education credits.

Education and Consultative Services of UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 5059.  Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  Education and Consultative Services of UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital is solely responsible for all aspects of this program.  This program is being offered for 2.0 continuing education hours. 

Licensed/Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists: LSW/LCSW/LPC/LMFT

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, University of Pittsburgh is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. University of Pittsburgh maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive 2.0 continuing education credits.

Other Healthcare Professionals

Nurses and other health care professionals are awarded .20 Continuing Education Units (CEU's). One CEU is equal to 10 contact hours. Nurses: For attending this program you will receive a Certificate of Attendance confirming .20 hours of continuing education. These hours may be considered eligible for completing the 30 hours of continuing education required for biannual nursing re-licensure in Pennsylvania. Peer Specialists: This program fulfills requirements for Certified Peer Specialist continuing education.

• Continuing education credits will be reduced if the participant chooses to leave before the end of the event.

• NBCC, CADC/CCDC, and General CEU – Upon completion of the evaluation and continuing education application, participants will be awarded a continuing education contact hour(s) certificate four to six weeks post-conference via e-mail. Please keep these certificates in a safe place. Replacements will cost $30.

• APA and LSW/LCSW/LPC/LMFT and CME certificates will be issued upon completion of the evaluation on the CCEHS registration site.
