First Jump Scholarship

- For Aspiring First Generation College Student -

Sandra Day O’Connor High School is pleased to offer a $1,000.00 scholarship, offered by an alumni family, to one (1) Senior Student who aspires to be a first generation college graduate in his/her family.

Through the First Jump Scholarship, the family will:

i) Pay $1,000 towards tuition for his/her first year of college ($500 per semester).

ii) Offer mentorship for recipient as he/she transitions into college.

The $1,000.00 award will be paid directly to the enrolling college/university (as two installments of $500 per semester). Check will be mailed to the student’s college account upon approval by the award committee and verification of enrollment.

To be eligible, applicants must meet these guidelines:

➢ Be a graduating senior at Sandra Day O’Connor High School

➢ Have an unweighted GPA greater than or equal to 3.0

➢ Have a completely filled out scholarship application packet

➢ Be willing to interview with the sponsoring family (award committee)

➢ Be applying to or have been accepted to a 4 year US University or 2 year associates program

➢ Be a first generation university student: both parents and all grand parents have not attended a 4 year university

The applicant must complete, sign and submit application packet to:

Packet must be received NO LATER THAN March 31th 2017. Application material will be shared with the sponsoring family (award committee), and will become the property of SDOHS.

Award notification will be made on or before April 30th, 2017.
