We're back!!! Arlington's Continuing Education Program is once again offering an exciting variety of children's programs this summer! Take a look at all we have to offer!

Courses are developed with suitable ages in mind and specified INCOMING grades are posted for each class. Classes will run from 9am ? noon unless noted otherwise.

All students should wear comfortable clothes and MUST wear SNEAKERS. Bring a water bottle and a snack and a labeled backpack for your belongings.

Are you ready for an art expedition? Let the wonder and beauty of the animal kingdom inspire your empathy, curiosity, and creativity. Learn about lions, elephants, sharks and more, and find out how wildlife conservationists are working to protect species around the globe. Experiment with a variety of art techniques, and use Crayola? products to create animal-inspired art projects, from frog paintings to polar bear sculptures! Art Day Camp

Art Day Camp is all about using student interest to guide each day's session. Every day will have new projects and activities. Students will paint with a variety of mediums; sculpt, draw, paper mache, create 3D projects and more. Wear old clothes and bring any size clean styrofoam trays, paper towel tubes, plain pillow case, cardboard egg carton. always fun. Did you know Easter, Passover, and Shem all us eggs in their spring festivities? In Japan there is a Children's Day. Chinese New Year and Carnevale are full of fun and surprises. Students will create a dragon headdress, maracas, a mask, a necklace and more. Wear old clothes and bring an Adult size . Sci-Art Grades 2 - 6

If your favorite question is "What if?" then this class is for you. Many artists are scientists. They love to observe life, experimenting with materials and ideas. Be like Leonardo DaVinci creating famous artwork like the Mona Lisa and drawings showing inventions for flight. Students will create a variety of projects using many different medium. Optical Illusions Grades 3 - 6

Art is all about illusion. Simple lines and shapes are used to create spectacular designs and images creating optical illusions. These tricks or illusions are based on scientific facts in how the eyes and the brain relate to each other. You'll be able to fool your friends and family using these artistic capers. Cooking

Have fun in the kitchen making a variety of treats. Students are to bring an apron, mixing bowl, rolling pin, whisk, measuring cups, measuring spoons, oven mitt, and a container to each class to bring your culinary goods home. A variety of recipes, including healthy alternatives, will be taught. A $15 ingredients fee is due to the instructor on the first day of classes for each course attending.

Cookie Explosion Grades 3 - 6

In this fun, hands on class, we will explore simple techniques for transforming cookies and icing into edible art! Kids will learn how to follow recipes, roll out dough, and make royal icing to create professional style designs good enough to eat! $78 Course #9231 M - Th 7/8 - 7/11

your very own! We will combine the elements of

imaginative fantasy writing, storyboarding and comic

illustration to design a short graphic novel. No technical

Science of Supers

There's a little superhero in all of us. Science fiction

superheroes are everywhere often defying basic scientific

laws in order to save the day. We will explore the real

science of the four most universal powers: flight, strength,

enhanced senses, and mind control/telekinesis and will

consider how these powers work within the fictional world

and then discover the real science behind each power,

how it works as well as advancements that allow humans

to augment their own natural abilities. Along the way we

will do some experiments and discuss the potential

positives and negatives to a person gaining such powers.

And, yes, we will absolutely debate the question of

whether a hero needs a cape! Capes, or no capes! Bring
