Dear Students and Families, We are excited to welcome you back to school! As you think about the new

school year and back-to-school shopping here is some information about the Master Notebook you will use to help you stay organized in middle school. This is a suggested list and each family may adjust based on your situation. The Master Notebook System is centered around an organizational binder that holds a student's papers and information needed to go from class to class each and every day; it has been shown to help all students stay organized, avoid losing work or wasting time looking for papers and materials, and it helps a student to be ready to get for class.

Here is what you will need for your working notebook: One 1.5 or 2 inch binder ( 1.5 inch highly recommended) Set of 8 dividers (one for every subject); you will label these for each class you have Looseleaf notebook paper in each section; do not put spiral binders or pocket folders in each section. A zippered pouch that has 3 holes and can be put in the front of your binder. (This will hold highlighters, pencils, pens, erasers) Stick-on tabs to label parts of your subject sections. For example, in writing you will label parts of that section as notes, homework, spelling, grammar, quizzes/tests A plastic page protector to put your schedule in. At some point, it is possible you may want extra of these for other important papers. A portable three-hole punch that can be put in your binder (optional)

Other items that will support your classes sticky notes composition book tabs to stick on a page and label a section (same as above) glue stick tape pencils & pens index cards highlighters

As with any purchase you make, it is up to you to choose one that makes sense for you as a person and for your budget. In the past these supplies have been available at stores such as the Dollar Store, Walmart, or Staples. Please do not hesitate to contact the 8th grade team with questions.
