Bar Committee Report

We now have a new cash register in the canteen. The new register prints out chips and was approved by the floor. If you have bar chips that were used in the past, they are still good until 1 January 2016. So use them up.

We have two new bartenders, Kelly and Maile. Also, Jeannie is back onboard. Stop in and meet them. These bartenders are only doing what they are told. If you are not happy with operations, attend the meetings. Don't take it out on them.

In September we will be having a Commander/Can Party. There will be a signup sheet in the canteen. A $10.00 deposit is required that will be refunded if you show up for the party. This way we will have a good idea how much food to buy and won't go overboard. Also, for an additional $10.00 (non-refundable) you may bring a guest.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on electing me your Commander for the upcoming year. I will do my very best and look forward to working with all of you. Our Memorial Day Open House was a great success. Many thanks to the AL Auxiliary, SAL Members and the Legion Members who work so hard in the preparation and cleanup so that we can put on such an event, "Thank You". As it stands now, we still have a opening for Histo-

rian. If anyone is interested, please contact me, so that we can have the election in the fall. The State Convention will be held at Dover Downs on July 8th, 9th and 10th. White shirts will be worn on Thursday and red on Friday. Looking forward to seeing you there. Lastly, I wish everyone a safe and happy summer!!

Hi Folks, Summer is here and it's hot out there, so stay cool and hydrated. We are on our summer break right now, but our chicken BBQ is still going to happen. We're just off to a slow start. Keep an eye on the marquee for our first BBQ. I want to thank Grizz, Tommy, Mike, Ginny and Becky

for picking up flags and John and Curtis for helping to put them out. We come back from break in September and would be glad to see you at our first meeting on Wednesday, September 2 at 7:00 pm.

See you at the meeting!

Ladies Auxiliary President

As the newly elected Unit 6 President, I am looking forward to the upcoming year. There is a need for chairmen for the committees, and anyone interested should attend the next meeting in September.

Pat Tews is the new Poppy Chairman and would like to get more of the Junior Auxiliary members involved with this program. Any Junior members interested can contact her at thetewsfamily@.

The State Convention will be held July 8-10 at the Dover Downs Convention Center and should be a very educa-

tional and social event. Hope to see you there!

On Saturday, May 2nd, several members of our Post attended the Carnival at the VA Hospital in Elsmere for the veterans. A good time was had by all of the patients as well as the members. On Wednesday, May 13th, members of our Post went to the VA Hospital this time hosting Bingo for the vets. Again, it was an enjoyable evening and the men and women really appreciate our being there. I want to thank all of the volunteers who helped out at both of these events!

On Monday, May 11th, we held our Installation Dinner. I would like to welcome aboard all of the newly elected officers of the Legion, AL Auxiliary and SAL. Hope to see you at the Post and the State Convention.

Have a safe and enjoyable Summer!

Bob McClain

2nd Vice Commander

Nothing much to report at this time, so I wish you all a happy summer! See you in September.

TRIPLE MEDAL HONOREE

Nanticoke Post #6 ALA member, Cindy Sauers, was invited to attend the Dedication Ceremony of the WWI Distinguished Service Cross Monument at Long Warf Park on May 9, 2015, by the Eastern Shore Post #88, 29th Division Association, Inc. Cindy's grandfather, D. Harford Smith, of Company C, 115th Regiment was one of five military men honored on the monument.

CPL Smith volunteered and led an automatic rifle crew forward, silencing a machine gun nest which was holding up the advance of his company. He worked his way forward through a barrage from four machine gun nests, killing all the occupants of two nests and forcing the others to withdraw, thus permitting his company to advance.

CPL Smith was awarded the Nation's second highest award The Distinguished Service Cross from the USA, the Italian War Cross of Merit from Italy and the Croix De Guerre from France.

At the National Convention this August there will be a vote to raise our yearly dues. It will pass. Dues will be $35.00 starting October 1st with the second renewal sent out by National. The dues for 2016 are due starting on July 1st and they are still $30.00. So please pay before September 30th. There will be an EARLY BIRD lunch for those who pay before September 30th.

Thank you!

Bob Michael

Ladies, we did not make our goal this year. We will start collecting dues for the new year following the convention. Dues are still $20.00. We have new officers. Come out and support them in September. Have a safe and wonderful summer!!

God Bless Our Veterans! Nancy King

SOMEBODY ELSE--Anonymous There's a clever young fellow named SOMEBODY ELSE. There's nothing this fellow can't do. He's busy from morning `til way late at night Just substituting for you. You're asked to do this, or asked to do that, And what is your ready reply? "GET SOMEBODY ELSE", Mister Chairman, He'll do it much better than I. There's so much to do in our service, So much, and the WORKERS are few And SOMEBODY ELSE is getting weary and worn Just substituting for you. So, next time you're asked to do something worthwhile, Just give them this honest reply: "IF SOMEBODY ELSE can give time and support, You can bet your last dime, SO CAN I!"
