In Ordinary Time

The Thirteenth Sunday

Dear Friends,

"Follow me," Jesus calls out in today's Gospel from Saint Luke. He summons us as well, and his call is challenging. Being a disciple means putting aside one's own personal concerns. It also means following Jesus no matter how difficult. Up until now, Jesus spent his time preaching, teaching, and healing around Galilee. But now Jesus has set off for Jerusalem. Though the disciples do not realize it, he has embarked on the journey that leads to the cross. Let us pray for the strength and courage to continue to follow our Lord, no matter the cost, realizing that our reward is in the kingdom of God.

This past week we had a campus enlivened by our PREP children and our Confirmation candidates. It was a week filled with energy and the working of the Holy Spirit. I am deeply grateful to Mrs. Heeney, Mrs. O'Neill and our catechists and aides who work so conscientiously to bring the faith to our young children. We are blessed here at Saint Robert's to be able to offer three programs for religious education of our young. There are few, if any, parishes that offer such a variety of programs. Thank you, one and all, for your generous spirits!

The parish Mass Intention Book will open this Monday and Tuesday, June 27, and June 28. Please be sure to honor you time slot for procuring Masses. Remember, only three Masses may be secured at this time. This will allow for more people to reserve Masses for their loved ones. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding for the new limitation and with this new process.

This coming Wednesday, June 29th, the parish office will be CLOSED. Our staff is using the parish pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Padre Pio as our staff retreat day. The office will open on Thursday at 9AM.

Many of you inquired as to the new residence for Father Raymundo. Father is living at SAINT ANDREW PARISH, 3500 School Lane, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. I am sure he will welcome any correspondence from you as he makes his transition this summer.

It is hard to believe that we are finishing the last week of June already. We need to pray that these summer days slow down. Before you know it there will be Back-to-School ads!

May Saint Robert Bellarmine bless our summer days!

With prayers,

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

June 26, 2022

The 2023 Mass Book will be opening at the end of

June! Things will be similar to the 2021 Mass book

opening. Appointments are available for people to

come to the parish office and procure their Masses.

Beginning Saturday June 18th, there will be signup

sheets in the narthex for

appointments on Monday 6/27

and Tuesday 6/28. If someone is

unable to get to church on the

weekend or during the week to

sign up for an appointment, we

will be able give an appointment

our over the phone on May 26th. People will be

limited to 3 Masses. Only 2 of the 3 Masses can be

on Sunday. Thank you for your cooperation!!

FOCUS ON FAITH

THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

1 Kings 19:16b, 19-21; Galatians 5:1, 13-18; Luke 9:51-62

Our Gospel reading today shows the beginning of a profound road trip. Jesus and his disciples are setting their

compasses toward the holy city of Jerusalem, where--as they will soon find--Jesus will experience his Passion and

Resurrection. Jesus invites each of us on this journey. We know the cost of walking with Jesus and we know that new

life awaits us.

`

What do you need to leave behind in order to follow him more closely?

What helps you stay faithful to the journey?

In what ways are you assisting others on their journey to Jerusalem?

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT -- ENTRUSTING ALL TO GOD

"There are mes when the burden of need and our own limita ons might tempt us to become discouraged. But precisely then we are helped by the knowledge that, in the end, we are only instruments in the Lord's hands; and this knowledge frees us from the presump on of thinking that we alone are personally responsible for building a be er world. In all humility we will do what we can, and in all humility we will entrust the rest to the Lord. It is God who governs the world, not we. We offer him our service only to the extent that we can, and for as long as he grants us the strength.

To do all we can with what strength we have, however, is the task which keeps the good servant of Jesus Christ always at work: `The love of Christ urges us on' (2 Corinthians 5:14)."

--Pope Benedict XVI

Prayer for the Eucharistic Revival

My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I beg pardon for those who do not believe, nor adore, nor hope, nor love You. (Three times)

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly.

I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. And, through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of You the conversion of sinners. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

BAPTISM PREPARATION CLASS Next Class ? Monday, July 11th at 7pm in the meeting room. Pre-registration is necessary in order to attend the class. No date for Baptism can be set until parents fulfill this requirement.

Parents and Godparents should register for this class as soon as they know of the upcoming birth, and always prior to the actual birth of the child. Register by calling the parish office between 9a & 4p weekdays. Classes held every other month: Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov.

Hello, friends! I am Julia Fellmeth, rising sophomore and member of Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish, and I am hosting an item drive for the homeless population via De Sales University Campus Ministry Works of Mercy Club (WoM). My school has teamed up with the Valley Health Partners and Street Medicine to collect every day items to help the homeless. Street Medicine is an organization that goes off the beaten track to find the homeless and give them desperately needed medical care. They also help the homeless find places to stay so that they can find jobs and begin to stand on their own two feet again. You donations will go directly to the homeless via the Street Medicine team. Please be aware that the social stigma attached to homeless people is not true. Many people are homeless, especially in the wake of the pandemic, because of eviction, loss of jobs, and not having a family willing to help them out. Not all homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, and those who are receive help from Street Medicine.

THE CATHOLIC CHARITIES APPEAL FOR 2022 GIVING HOPE TO ALL ?

Catholic Housing and Community Services (CHCS) work shines through in the residents that they assist. Recently, an elderly man named Frank came to CHCS for help. His living arrangements were desperate, and he was forced to roam the streets with nowhere to go. He found a safe space at a CHCS senior housing community in June of last year. CHCS was able to help him furnish his apartment and purchase essential items that we often take for granted. He has also become a regular at the local older adult community center. Because of the help Frank received from CHCS, he now has a safe and affordable place to live, a sense of community, and feelings of security. Rather than just surviving, he is thriving. When we support the CCA we are helping seniors, like Frank, lead lives of dignity.

We are thrilled to announce that over 500 tickets have been sold for CCA Night with the Phillies! Through your generosity, Pope John Paul II High School will sing the National Anthem and Luis from Our Lady of Confidence will throw out the first pitch of the game. Thank you for supporting the Catholic Charities Appeal. If you are still interested in purchasing tickets to see our winning Phillies, contact specials/catholic-charities
