What is Clever Secure Sync?

CleverWhat is Clever Secure Sync?Think of Clever Secure Sync as a bridge between SchoolSpeak and online learning programs. Clever is engineered to be the most secure and convenient way to manage student information and grant access to learning programs. This is basically the same process that we have been doing with Renaissance Place for the past 2 years but with the flexibility to add other programs. There are hundreds of apps that can be added, both free and paid. Lexia, Class Dojo and McGraw-Hill products are common ones we use in the Diocese. Click here to see what’s in the App Gallery. Why the change? To save valuable time! Clever is a single portal for all of the school’s digital learning programs. Students and teachers have single sign-on access for any resource or file they need. This saves valuable class time, eliminating the extra minutes that students use to login to multiple accounts. For our K-2 students, the use of badges, which are scanned QR codes, eliminates the time it takes to get these younger students logged in. It also saves time for administrators and/or staff personnel who have to add student and teacher accounts and setup classes. Clever provides automatic account setup and updates, very similar to what we have been doing with Renaissance.Another added feature, is that the portal can be customized and set up so that students only see what they need and aren’t distracted by apps they can’t even access. How does it work?First, Schoolspeak syncs to Clever through an Auto Sync every night.Once the data is in Clever, school applications then retrieve that data from the Clever account on a nightly basis. Some schools might have McGraw-Hill MyMath and Wonders; others might have Ready Math. Each school can manage their links and applications on their portal.Through this process of applications retrieving data from Clever, user accounts are automatically created in connected applications. From that point on, applications regularly update any changes of user accounts and/or classes.NO NEED TO CREATE NEW ACCOUNTS!What is Clever Single Sign-On?Clever?single sign-on (SSO) allows users to log into applications with a single set of credentials (username and password). With the ease of only one username and password, Clever can help teachers reclaim valuable class time. Students and teachers can open their devices, sign into the Clever Portal, and click on their connected applications to automatically access the online learning programs. There are several options for selecting the credentials that students and teachers use for their Single Sign On (SSO).STUDENTS AND TEACHERS SAVE TIME BY LOGGING IN ONCE.Option 1: Student and teacher accounts are already set up in Clever.Presently, students and teachers can login with the LogID in Schoolspeak as the username and the Member ID in Schoolspeak as the password. Teachers are required to change their password the first time they login. Each school has the ability to set their own usernames and passwords by entering them in the Username and password fields in Schoolspeak. This will override the LogID and MemberID automatically set up.right224790Steps: Go to this portal: . For ease of use, we recommend setting this as your homepage through your browser’s settings.Your initial login will be your login ID in Schoolspeak and your Member ID in Schoolspeak unless you set unique usernames and passwords in Schoolspeak.Once you login, all your products will be listed. You can go into McGraw-Hill at that point and access your products. Students can log in in the same manner. You will only login once and be able to access all your apps listed. Same with students. I can add other digital products that you use.Option 2: K-2 students have the option of using badges. The badges would scan through the Google or laptop camera and log them in automatically. The badges are already available and teachers can print them for their class through their portal. Here’s how it works:Students navigate to?? HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" and click?“Allow”?in the browser prompt to give Clever access to their camera. (For ease of use, we recommend setting? as the homepage in your browser for your students.)The webcam will activate and students should hold up their Badge to the camera. Once the sensors recognize the code, the screen border will flash green.Students will then be redirected to their Clever Portal.Option 3: Google accounts- If your students or teachers already have Google accounts set up, these accounts can be entered into Schoolspeak in the student or teacher profile field of Email. Do not enter the parent email in the Email field of the student profile. You can enter it as an alternative email and in the Email field in the parent account. Initially, you can contact Daphne for a bulk upload to save time. Here’s how it works:Students open Chromebooks, and log in with their usual Google email address and password.Students navigate to?? HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" . It is recommended to set? as the homepage in your browser for your students. After login, the district’s Clever portal is automatically opened for them (students do not need to log in again). ?Students can click on any applications, and begin their learning session.Option 4: IPadsStudents and teachers can log into Clever on iPads via the?Clever Instant Login?app. The app is available for free via the?iTunes App Store.?The Clever iOS app requires iOS 9.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. If you are using a device that is running iOS 11 or later, you must update to the newest version of the Clever app.Students, teachers, and school administrators?can log into the Clever Instant Login app using any of the methods listed above (such as Google, Clever Passwords or Badges) that has already been configured by their district.Students with badges can simply scan their Clever Badge and they will be automatically logged into their Clever Portal!NOTES: On some of the apps, for instance Renaissance Place, you will need to enter your Renaissance username and password once and it will save. Be careful to enter your renaissance username and password. You will not have to enter it again.Except for McGraw-Hill ConnectEd, you should still be able to login to any application directly through their website. You must login through Clever to access your McGraw-Hill content.HMH is not currently using Clever so products such as GoMath and Journeys will not allow for single sign-on.National Geographic/Cengage is working with Clever but doesn’t expect to be done until Jan. so Reach for Reading and Ngconnect do not work at this time.Any questions, please contact Daphne Irby, dirby@. ................
