Deep Time:

Imagining the Ancient Inland Sea

by Lex Gjurasic and Rachel Slick

Saturday, May 26 ? Friday, August 31

The Gallery @ the Library / Civic Center Library

DEEP TIME is an ancient world of pre-historic flora and fauna inspired by mythology, geology, paleontology and oral tradition.

Travel back to the ocean that once covered the Sonoran desert as imagined through these artists' eyes. Lex Gjurasic and Rachel Slick's installation transcends pre-history as we know it and brings to life Arizona before humans, when our sandy desert was the bottom of a green sea teeming with life. This fantastical immersive environment utilizes color, pattern, light and texture as well as recycled and experimental materials to inspire visitors of all ages to consider our environmental legacy.

Sticky Traps

by Malena Barnhart

Friday, June 1 ? Friday, August 31

The Gallery @ Appaloosa / Appaloosa Library

Malena Barnhart is an artist who makes feminist work. Through re-purposing mass-culture materials including YouTube videos, children's stickers and party decorations, her work examines the role that enculturation plays in the continued marginalization of women.
