Position Description:

To provide information, advice and assistance regarding various types of Federal and Institutional Financial Aid available to facilitate the enrollment of students, consistent with the College's mission, accreditation standards, and applicable regulatory guidelines.

Major/Essential Functions: Assists in the development, implementation, administration and management of the financial aid programs of the College and all responsibilities necessary to the assessment, improvement and maintenance of the program(s). Provides specialized assistance and information to students and parents regarding student financial programs and services. Process student aid applications and package awards. Counsel students and aid recipients regarding cost of attendance, methods of payment and management of financial responsibilities.

Duties/Responsibilities: Assume the duties of the Director of Financial Aid in his/her absence as assigned. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to provide outstanding customer support services. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with and effectively serve students. Perform periodic reconciliation to the general ledger. Interpret, implement, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of Federal and State guidelines governing financial aid programs. Monitor academic progress of students receiving financial aid. Audits student files periodically for accuracy and completeness. May participate in the selection and hiring of full- and part-time employees. Provide, coordinate, and lead in the direction of employee training. Assist employees with improving work performance and implementation of new procedures. Develop and revise outreach and consumer information materials.

Provide advice and assistance to students with loans, grants, scholarships, and the financial aid application process and review applications to assure accurate and complete information.

Assist students with resolution of unusual problems and make adjustments as appropriate. Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Utilize Federal and State agency online data management systems to troubleshoot student and

college record management issues. Conduct assessment of student needs including monitoring and evaluating the efficiency and

effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures. Evaluate office procedures as they relate to student service and allocate resources accordingly. Oversee and make recommendations regarding the inventory of supplies and equipment,

requisition necessary items; ensure proper maintenance of equipment; arrange for repairs as required. Coordinate and communicate appropriate information to other departments (especially the Student Accounts Area) Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications: Required:

Bachelor's degree in the education or business fields from an accredited institution of higher education and three to five years of financial aid administration experience including Title IV aid programs or the equivalent.

Be a committed Christian and in good standing with a local church. Be in complete agreement with doctrinal position of the College and able to sign statement

without reservation. Preferred:

Equipment/Skills/Knowledge needed to perform job (i.e., vehicle, MS Word, License, etc.): Effective communication skills to support interaction with students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds regarding financial aid program requirements and procedures. Ability to interpret, apply and explain policies, procedures and regulations regarding financial aid programs. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the activities of the Student Financial Services Office. Ability to exercise sound judgment in reviewing and screening applications for financial aid when determining eligibility and evaluating special circumstances. Proficiency in using Powerfaids or other financial aid administration software. Proficiency in use Microsoft Word and Excel, Powerpoint, Internet, and email. Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Ability to perform business math computations and maintain accurate financial records Ability to prepare and deliver public presentations. Ability to read, interpret and explain statistical data, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to research, analyze and evaluate service delivery methods and techniques. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Skilled in the preparation of a variety of correspondence. Ability to train and provide direction to personnel.

Measurable Expectations/Fiscal Responsibilities (i.e., quarterly reports, annual events, etc.): Process, maintain and submit accurate and timely student aid transactions. Manage financial aid student clients as assigned. All additional measurements of expectations and performance will be designed, documented and

implemented as deemed appropriate to the position.

Mobility/Physical Demands: While performing duties of this job, employee is required to sit, stand and walk Employee is required to talk and listen via face-to-face contact and telephone Employee may have to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Working Conditions/Environment (i.e., necessary travel, unusual hours, etc.): Normal office environment. Attend conferences and seminars. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
