Technology Project Description:

Students will create trading cards to publish facts they learn in a curriculum unit.

Activity: Students will gather facts from an Internet site, textbook, library book or other and

Use the information to create two or more trading cards.

Suggested Subjects: Animal facts, State Facts, Country Facts, Famous People, etc.

Teacher Project Directions:

1. Gather information.

2. Open the template named TradingCard_template. (It will open as a Word document.)

3. Fill in the desired information for the selected subject.

4. To create your own template after making changes: Go to File to Save As. Click the arrow at the end of the “Save as type” space and choose document template. At the top of the “Save As” window navigate where you want the template saved for student use.

5. Have students gather & record information on a collection sheet (notebook paper, manilla paper, etc.)

6. Students will copy a picture from the Internet, insert a picture from clipart or after printing draw a picture on each card.

Student Project Directions:

1. Open the teacher created template. Save it in your home directory.

2. Enter information recorded earlier on the collection sheet into the correct area of each card.

3. Change border & text colors if desired.

4. Enter a picture. Choices:

• Insert a picture from clipart in the box on the left.

• Copy a picture from the Internet & paste it in the box on the left. Also, copy & paste the URL where the picture was found under the picture after Credit.

• Print 1st & then draw a picture.

5. Save again & print.

6. Cut around the outside edge of the two cards.

7. Fold in the middle & glue.
