Marvelous Me
Language Arts:
This week our main literature selection will be I Like Me. The students will celebrate the uniqueness of their classmates and friends. We will have fun making paper dolls that look like ourselves.
We will also continue to reinforce our classroom rules as we enjoy reading several stories about this subject. Please review the rule page in the homework bag and have your child sign his/her name. Then return it to our classroom.
Fundations:
Tt and Bb.
Students will practice printing these letters correctly while paying attention to the sky line, the airplane line, and the ground line on their papers and in their writing workbooks.
Daily 5/Reading:
In our Daily 5/Reading lessons, students will learn 3 ways to read a book (read the pictures, read the words, and retell the story) and begin practicing the READ TO SELF component. Students will work to increase their reading stamina. We will read Dex: The Heart of a Hero.
Writing Workshop:
The students will begin to write in their journals. They will begin by drawing and labeling pictures.
Name writing:
We have been practicing how to write our names the kindergarten way; uppercase first letter, lower case for every other letter. Please help your child to do the name homework carefully and correctly.
Math:
We will begin our formal lessons in the new Go Math series. Students will learn how to model, count and write numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. These numbers may seem easy for many, but we are building the routines and foundations students will be using for the rest of the year.
Math Sight Words: 0 – zero 1 - one
2 - two 3 - three
4 – four 5 - five
Homework:
