Gadsden (pop: 35,409) is the county seat of Etowah County, located on the Coosa River about 56 miles northeast of Birmingham and 90 miles southwest of Chattanooga. Etowah County's 2010 census population of 104,430 is ranked 11th in the state, out of 67 counties. Gadsden is also home to 5,797 students at Gadsden State Community College and is bordered by Attalla and Rainbow City with over 15,000 more residents
