PART 5: TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON ACCEPTANCE OF THE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
These conditions shall apply to learners who are awarded an Academic Scholarship:
1.1 An Academic Scholarship provides a disbursement on academic tuition fees only and is credited to the recipient's school fee account. The full enrolment deposit, uniforms, books, study requirements, tour fees, stationery, sports kit and equipment and other usual school-related expenses are specifically excluded from this disbursement.
1.2 An Academic Scholarship is awarded to a learner who shows an exceptional aptitude in the area of academics. The learner must also participate in the school's extramural programme ? see point 1.8 below.
1.3 An Academic Scholarship is awarded provided the applicant is successfully placed at Rand Park High School by the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) during the admissions season. This requires the parents of the applicant to submit an e-admission application for Rand Park High School via the Gauteng Department of Education's online portal for the 2021 academic year. Supporting documents must also be submitted to the School, in accordance with the GDEs admission requirements and the School's Admission Policy. Rand Park High School is a high-pressure school based on the volume of Grade 8 admission applications received - timeous e-application submission is therefore essential. Failure to comply with the GDEs requirements will result in the scholarship being revoked.
1.4 Short-listed scholarship applicants, accompanied by their parents/guardians, may be invited to an interview if deemed necessary by the Scholarship Committee.
1.5 Recipients of Academic Scholarships offered by Rand Park High School will be notified in writing. A confirmatory letter, stating the scholarship offer, will be sent to the parents/guardians via email. The successful candidate will have seven (7) working days within which to accept the scholarship in writing. Should a written acceptance not be received within this timeframe, the scholarship will be offered to the next candidate on the short-list.
1.6 An Academic Scholarship is awarded for a single academic year. Parents/guardians of the scholarship recipient may re-apply for the following academic year by completing and submitting a Re-award Motivation Form before the closing date. This form is available from the Scholarships Office at Rand Park High School in the Third School Term.
1.7 An Academic Scholarship will be revoked if the learner is de-registered from Rand Park High School during the academic year.
1.8 An Academic Scholarship may be revoked or reduced at the sole discretion of the School, if:
1.8.1 The learner fails to maintain excellent academic results during the course of the academic year.
1.8.2 The learner fails to participate in at least one School extramural activity during each School term.
1.8.3 The learner fails to present him/herself to the Dean of the Grade when requested to do so in order to evaluate academic progress and participation in extramural activities.
1.8.4 The Learner's conduct, attitude and behaviour does not comply with the requirements of the School's Code of Conduct.
1.9 The applicant, and at least one parent, should be South African citizens or have permanent residence. Rand Park High School reserves the right to request proof of citizenship.
