Portfolio Suggestions

*These are some suggestions. Not every family will have the same type of items to put in their portfolios. You may choose to have a smaller portfolio with only a few samples of each subject. There is no set requirements stating what is required to be in the portfolio, only that samples of the work are required.

English

-List of Curriculum and Reference Materials Used

-Summary of what information was covered

-Literature – List of Books Read - Independently and/or Family

Book lists should include: Title, Author, Date Read, # of pages

Certificates from Reading Programs (Library, Book-It, Read to Seed, etc.)

-Grammar/Compositions

Samples of grammar course work

Samples of students own written work (rough & final drafts)

-Handwriting

Samples from curriculum

*handwritten rough drafts of compositions can be used

-Spelling/Vocabulary

Tests

Samples how student studies

Samples of daily work

-Speech **Usually for secondary students

Written form of speech (note cards or report)

Note as to where, when, & audience

Pictures of student giving the speech

Evaluation from some of the audience

Mathematics

-List of Curriculum and Reference Materials Used

-Summary of what skills were taught

-Samples of daily work – Try to show different area studied

-Tests, reviews, speed drills

-Special projects (yard sales, saving account calculations, etc.)
