Introducing New OFBF Trustee

Alfred (Al) DiVencenzo of Grafton has been elected District 3 Trustee for the Ohio Farm Bureau. He will represent the counties of Cuyahoga, Erie, Huron and Lorain. Al has been active in the Lorain County Farm Bureau for many years, including eight as president. He has also been involved in State Policy Developments and State Code Committees. Al has been a 4-H advisor for 42 years and has taught in the Lorain, Western Cuyahoga, Eastern Huron and Erie Counties. He currently works for Bowling Green State University and Akron University. Al and his wife, Beth, operate a choose and cut Christmas tree farm and a pre-cut lot that benefits local schools and libraries.

2014 Scholarships Awarded

Each year, Huron County Farm Bureau awards agriculturally-related scholarships to graduating seniors and continuing education scholarships to college students. These scholarships were recently awarded to several deserving individuals.

Amanda Szabo, daughter of Dennis & Sharon Szabo of Wakeman; a 2014 graduate of New London High School and Evan Walcher, son of Chris & Michelle Walcher of North Fairfield; a 2014 graduate of Willard High School were both recipients of a Huron County Farm Bureau Scholarship. Amanda plans to attend Wilmington College and study agricultural business. Evan also plans to attend Wilmington College to major in agronomy.

Erin Kramer, daughter of James & Susan Kramer of Norwalk; a 2013 graduate of St. Paul High School was awarded a Huron County Farm Bureau Continuing Education Scholarship. Erin is attending The Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute where she is majoring in agricultural commerce and crop management.

Sam Schwab, son of Ellen & John (deceased) Schwab of Willard; a 2011 graduate of Monroeville High School was the recipient of a Huron County Farm Bureau Continuing Education Scholarship. He attends the University of Cincinnati and is majoring in 2 areas; environmental studies and economics.

2014 Farm Tour Scheduled for September 13th

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 13 to attend our 2014 Huron County Farm Bureau Farm Tour. Far ms that are par ticipating include Bar Lee J er sey's dair y far m located at 5048 Willard West Rd, Willard. Also on the tour is the Muck Crops Agricultural Research Station & Development Center which is located at 4875 State Route 103 South, Willard and is part of The Ohio State University's ,Ohio Agricultural Research Development Center. Feichtner Farms Inc. beef farm located at 3254 Townline Road 12 in Willard will also take part in the tour.

Come to our fair booth at the Huron County Fair to pick up your farm tour brochure. We hope that you will attend and enjoy the country view and beautiful agriculture showcase in Huron County!
