This document can be used to help with review of data, it is separated by domain and contains descriptions and reports that can help with the validation of data. Once data is validated, schools should approve the domain.

Attendance Rate

Description

End-of-year count of students (kindergarten through 12th grade) as reported by the local superintendent in the Superintendent's Annual Attendance Report (SAAR). Preschool counts have been incorporated for consistency in reporting. The total number of students (unduplicated) that enrolled/attended school throughout the year, including students that exit before the end of the year. The total number of students identified as secondary (unduplicated) that enrolled/attended a B2 or C2 school, including students that exited before the end of the year. The attendance rate reflects the proportion of students in attendance during the school year. The percentage is calculated by the sum of present days for all students divided by total present plus absent student days (i.e., Present/(Present + Absent)). Attendance Rate is reported by the local superintendent in the Superintendent's Annual Attendance Report (SAAR)

Adjusted Average Daily Attendance (AADA) is the days attended by pupils in kindergarten through grade 12, adjusted for weather-related low attendance days, if applicable, and divided by the actual number of days the school is in session, after the five days with the lowest attendance are deducted. Kindergarten student attendance is included at one-half. AADA is reported by the local superintendent in the Superintendent's Annual Attendance Report (SAAR) A student is defined as being chronically absent if he or she is present 90% or less of full-time equivalency (FTE). Chronic absenteeism is calculated by dividing a student's FTE present minutes by FTE instructional minutes and rounding to the nearest whole percent. A student must be enrolled for 10 or more days before being included in the calculation. Students identified as economically disadvantaged based upon being program or income eligibility for free and reduced-priced meals. Students identified as English Learners (ELs) enrolled at the end of the year.

Number of teachers on a full-time equivalent (FTE) basis, not including administrators, guidance counselors, media specialists or resource teachers. Only reported at district and state levels.
