Amtrak Private Car Notices

• The Cincinnati Railway Company has transformed Cincinnati, Ohio into a full-service private car destination. With one phone call to the Cincinnati Railway Company, 513-791-1966, you can arrange to have your car taken off the Amtrak Cardinal at Cincinnati’s Union Terminal and will be promptly placed in a park along side the Ohio River just blocks from downtown Cincinnati.

• Once placed on our siding which is adjacent to Cincinnati’s premier high volume restaurant, The Montgomery Inn Boathouse , we will hook you to 480 power along with water and trash removal.

• Our siding is level, tree lined, with the river and a park on one side and a local park on the other. It is safe and quiet and just blocks from the Great American Ballpark, (link to ) home of the Cincinnati Reds, Paul Brown Stadium, , Home of the Cincinnati Bengals, The National Underground Railroad Museum , and the US Bank Arena .

• Per day parking fees per car are $250.00.

• Switching fees on & off Amtrak are $1050.00 each time.

• Water & electric & trash removal n/c.

Notes

• Once in Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Railway Company can schedule numerous local excursions. Trips to Batesville, Indiana, Indianapolis, Indiana, “Beechgrove”, Columbus, Ohio and Washington Courthouse, OH can be arranged. Even three hour dinner cruises around Cincinnati can be arranged. Please call for specific costs.

• Long & Short term private car parking is also available in our secured yard. Complete yard power and water is available and included. Again, call for specific cost. We currently have five private cars under our care. We also employ a diesel mechanic capable of light to moderate repairs.

SEASONAL ATTRACTIONS:

• Zinzinnati Oktoberfest – oktoberfest-

Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati showcases the rich German heritage of Southwestern Ohio, as well as tasty samples of German-style music, food and beer. First held in 1976, the event has grown to be North America's largest Oktoberfest with over 500,000 people attending each year. This is a great event to attend, as there is usually a baseball game and possibly a football game, all within walking distance of downtown.

• Tall Stacks 2006 –

Tall Stacks, the tremendously successful paddle wheel riverboat event that consistently places Cincinnati in the national spotlight. Tall Stacks Music, Arts & Heritage Festival features numerous performances by national, regional and local entertainers with a focus on musical genres that relate to the river and towns and cities located along our inland waterways. We will also include theatrical performances, extensive educational and living history areas, nightly fireworks and much more.

• Tower A at Cincinnati Union Terminal – ()

Take a tour of one of the most beautiful railroad stations in the nation. Be sure to see the restored control tower, Tower A, on the fourth floor of the terminal. The Cincinnati Railroad Club has restored this 1930’s control room to its original glory. The museum includes a huge railroad library and a spectacular view of the CSX Queensgate yard.

• The Underground Railroad Museum The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center stands as the nation's newest monument to freedom. It brings to life the importance - and relevance - of struggles for freedom around the world and throughout history, including today. Made up of three buildings that symbolize the cornerstones of freedom - courage, cooperation, and perseverance - the Freedom Center's curving architecture reflects the winding river and the often-changing path to freedom.

• Great American Ballpark/ Reds Hall of Fame Museum – Although praised for its innovative features, breathtaking views and affordable seating options upon its opening in 2003, Great American Ball Park also pays tribute to the Reds rich history. Crosley Terrace statues, Italian-marble mosaics, famous-dates banners and a nostalgic Sun/Moon Deck are just a handful of features that give this modern marvel a truly historic influence. The Reds Hall of Fame, which opened to the public Sept. 25, 2004, is just west of Great American Ball Park, the home of the Cincinnati Reds, along Cincinnati's riverfront. The facility features more than 16,000 square feet of exhibit space on two floors.

• Paul Brown Stadium

Home of the Cincinnati Bengals, Paul Brown Stadium is one of the newest facilities in the NFL. Just five blocks down from the Great American Ballpark, Paul Brown Stadium offers Club Seating & Private Suites including specialized catering, personalized concierge service and elegant interior designs.

• Cincinnati Art Museum –

At the Cincinnati Art Museum, visitors sample 6,000 years of world art distinguished by its extremely high quality. In addition to the art of ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, there are extensive galleries of Near and Far Eastern art, Native American and African art and in the future there will be extensive galleries of furniture, glass, ceramics, silver, costumes and folk art.

• Spring Grove Cemetery - springgrove/history.htm

A historical landmark and one of the largest cemeteries in the nation, where a beautifully landscaped facility and impressive arboretum surrounds the grounds where many of the cholera victims of the 1830’s & 1840’s are laid to rest among numerous other historical markers.

• Kings Island – For those with a flair for adventure, speed, and some of the most amazing roller coasters in the nation, Kings Island is just a 40 minute drive from downtown.

• River Downs –

The River Downs RaceBook offers exciting simulcasting action 7 days a week!  The race track is only approximately 10 miles east on the river from where your railcar is parked. The RaceBook opens daily at 11:45am and closes after the last race is completed.  

River Downs opens for live thoroughbred racing Friday April 9th through Labor Day 2004.  River Downs offers live thoroughbred racing everyday except Wednesdays.

• Coney Island –

For those with young children in tow, Coney Island is a less-crowded, more affordable alternative to Kings Island. In addition to numerous rides and attractions, Coney Island offers the Sunlight pool, the world's largest re-circulating swimming pool - 200' x 401' and holding more than three million gallons of water! The pool is surrounded by waterslides and plenty of picnic & sunbathing space.

• The Aronoff Center for the Arts –

The Aronoff Center for the Arts is located in the heart of downtown Cincinnati. Designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli, the state-of-the-art facility opened in October 1995. The Center consists of three stunning performance spaces: Procter & Gamble Hall, Jarson-Kaplan Theater and Fifth Third Bank Theater.

• Newport on the Levee & the Purple People Bridge -

Take a walk over the Nation’s longest pedestrian bridge that links two states! The Newport Southbank Bridge (Or the Purple People Bridge) links downtown Cincinnati to Newport, Kentucky, and the featured Newport on the Levee, an Indoor/Outdoor combo of 10 Impressive Restaurants, 21 shops, an AMC 20-screen theater and the Newport Aquarium. This makes a great place for family fun during the day and an exciting night life scene that draws crowds of every age. This venue is within walking distance of where your car will be parked.
