Create Your Own Country!!!!! Mr. RathkeThis packet belongs to: __________________________________________________________Introduction: This project will test your research skills, your critical thinking skills, and give you an opportunity to do what we all would like to do: rule your own country. Sweet!!!!Directions: This project has several parts. You must complete each part before moving on to the next portion of the project. Part I must be completed first and turned in with your poster.Create a country of your own. Use your imagination. The sky is the limit. Have fun. Want your country to cover half of the globe? Go for it!!! Want your people to speak only in monosyllabic grunts? No problem!!! There are just two rules. First, it must be logical. Don’t have tropical vegetation in a desert for example. Second, you must take this seriously! Don’t rush through it just to get a grade. It is about learning and preparing yourself for life beyond high school.When creating your country, use the questions in Part I as your checklist for making sure you have addressed all the necessary points for your country.Part I: The research and the creation of your country! (this section must be completed before you make your map)What is the name of your country? ______________________________________________________What is the name of the capitol city? _____________________________________________________What are the names of at least five other cities or towns? For this portion, you should look at a world map and decide where you would like your country to be. When you design your country, it should be similar to what would be found in that region of the world (latitude, longitude). For example, if your country will be located along the equator, there should not be glaciers there! Does it have mountains? Is it an island? It is landlocked? Does it have multiple regions? This is where you take the questions you answered in Part I and draw them for us to see. Each map needs to have the following elements:Your large map must have a key, a scale, a compass rose, and any lakes, rivers, mountains, or other major physical features. They must show all of the cities and towns as well as your nation’s capitol. They should show any borders it has with other countries. They should be colorful, creative, and neat. They should be large enough to present them to a group of people. I will provide you with a poster board size sheet of paper. Again - the more detail, the better.Map Checklist – Use this checklist to make sure you have all the necessary parts of your maps.
