Mental Health Week in the Workplace

As part of the Mental Health Week program this year, the Western Australian Association for Mental Health is encouraging workplaces to step up and create awareness about mental health in the workplace, ideally during Mental Health Week, or at least during October. Mentally healthy workplaces are important as they can:

Improved team morale Strong corporate culture Positive reputation and brand Higher productivity Reduced absenteeism Decreased staff turnover Higher staff and skill retention Lower overhead costs Saving time from recruiting and training new staff

Try and implement at least one of the suggestions from the list we have prepared below. These activities are designed to help promote healthier individuals and working environments. An increasing number of managers are requesting mental health resources for their workplaces to engage and educate their staff about mental health and resilience. There's an activity for every type of budget, workplace, employee and manager.

Attend one of the FREE Workplace Wellness Seminars during Mental Health Week in Central Park Theatrette, Perth CBD (mhw..au/2016-events)

Order a Mental Health Response Box for your workplace (.au)

Hold a Morning Toolbox meeting and address mental health issues (merce..au/worksafe)

Organise for an inspirational guest speaker to talk to your staff about mental health Book a customised Mental Health First Aid training course on site
