MEET THE NEW VET ..................... Chloe Summerfield

I started seeing practice at Lanes Vets aged 15 and haven't looked back! I qualified from Edinburgh Vet School in July 2015 and have come straight from

university to join the team here at Lanes. Originally from Lancaster I have moved back to enjoy all the home comforts, much to the delight of my parents!

Having only guinea pigs as pets my parents are still mystified why I wanted to be a vet but I think endless Saturdays at local stables and lots of lambing, milking and calving had

something to do with it!

I'm settling in well and enjoy the small animal side of the practice, gaining valuable experience in medicine and surgery cases.

Outside of work I enjoy fell running, riding both my horses and my road bike and getting back to Scotland and the Lakes as often as possible.

Raw Food Diet

We have recently decided to stock Natures:Menu raw dog and cat foods at our Lancaster and Poulton surgeries , clients of the Garstang surgery can order food

to be transferred to Garstang.

Raw feeding can be a controversial subject but, when done correctly, raw feeding provides excellent nutrition and can be beneficial to animals with allergies and sensitivities. Raw

feeding is a diet based on the principle that dogs and cats are carnivores designed to eat raw meat and raw bones due to their teeth structure, jaws, stomach acid pH and digestive system.

Natures:Menu is the UKs number 1 raw pet food meeting the European standards of the Pet Food Manufacturer Associations code of conduct. Foods have been deep frozen for a number of months to eliminate potential disease causing bacteria making it safer to feed than raw butcher's meat which is

designed to be cooked.

Raw meals for dogs and cats are a complete and nutritionally balanced combination of meat and bone (with vegetables for dogs), convenient and simple to serve, formulated to provide all the nutrients that

your pet needs on a daily basis. Simply measure, defrost and serve.

Ambient meals available in tins or sachets offering the same balanced nutrition as the frozen meals but in a convenient gently steamed formulation.

Freeze Dried Meals for dogs, freeze dried premium meaty nuggets complemented with oats, fruits and vegetables.

Raw chews used to encourage pets to naturally clean their teeth by chewing and gnawing.

Bones should only be fed raw and at an appropriate size for your pet please ask for assistance.

BREED FACTFILE ..... Siamese Cats The Siamese is the legendary temple cat of the King of Siam, being

valued for their beauty and used as guard cats. The first Siamese cat was brought to England in 1884 and the breed

has grown in popularity since then. The Siamese is a long, elegant cat with a triangular head with tall

ears. The eyes of a Siamese are almond shaped and bright blue. The Siamese is a highly intelligent breed which can often be trained to walk on a lead. Siamese cats are great jumpers and love heights, so perches and cat trees should be

provided. The Siamese, as elegant as they look, can be quite a lap cat as they are extremely

affectionate
